Amazon plans to create more than 5,000 new part-time jobs over the next year

These days, who doesn’t shop with online mega-retailer Amazon? From tech gadgets to everyday essentials, books to fashion, and streaming movies and TV shows to music, Amazon has all the bases covered.

You love shopping with Amazon, how about working with the company? Now is your chance. Amazon plans to create more than 5,000 new part-time jobs over the next year. The best part? These new positions are designed for folks to work from home. Instead of surfing Amazon deals in your pajamas, you could be working for the company in your pajamas. Now that’s a real deal.

Amazon also has plans to create over 25,000 part-time roles in its fulfillment centers across the U.S., plus another 100,000 full-time and full-benefit jobs over the next 18 months. These full-time positions (which require proper dress and going into the office) will be located all over the country. The company is looking for everything from entry-level workers to engineers and software developers.

Okay, back to the pajama jobs. These positions are slated to be in the company’s virtual customer service program and allow employees to work as customer service agents from home. Perks for employees who work 20 hours or more a week include benefits like life and disability insurance, full-paid dental and vision insurance, and medical insurance funding. These folks can also take advantage of the Amazon Career Choice program, which pre-pays 95 percent of tuition for courses in in-demand fields.

Amazon is on to something – there are lots of people who want or need a flexible job. So whether you’re a bona-fide Amazon junkie, or a retiree looking for accessible part-time work to supplement your income, these new jobs offer a great way to generate some cash, all without leaving the comfort of your home.
