Some people just have too much time on their hands. Exhibit A: The computer programmer who spent who-knows-how-long figuring out how to make his Amazon Alexa digital assistant speak through a kitschy wall-mounted robotic fish.
Brian Kane somehow hacked into the software of his Alexa device and re-routed the audio so Alexa’s answers to everything from “What’s the pizza place near me?” to “Who won the 1967 World Series?” come out of Billy the Big Mouth Bass’ mechanical mouth.
Well…. Garage and basement tinkerers have pioneered many of our greatest technological advances. Not really sure where this breakthrough might lead, but it did make Kane a Facebook sensation, where the video of the Alexa Fish has been viewed 1.6 million times. I guess in this age of look-at-me social, that’s considered a significant achievement.
