Another new year has arrived, which means another round of well-intended health and fitness resolutions. Is getting more sleep on your list? It should be. Sleep is crucial to almost every aspect of our physical and mental health, from weight loss to fending off depression and maybe even dementia.
Most healthy adults need 7 to 9 hours of sleep every night. Yes, that requirement goes down as we age, but even older adults need a minimum 7 hours. Ironically, most of us love to sleep but don’t prioritize getting our Z’s. We let the daily demands of work and family life put our sleep time in a vice. Again, that’s a bad idea.
