While most kids are enjoying their summer vacation away from school, 9 Year-Old Rhuin Stevens is working hard to make a difference.
Rhu told her mother she wanted to find a way to give the homeless access to healthy food. One day she decided she would start up a hair and nail salon for $1 on the street. She found a corner for her pop-up salon at 34th and Columbus Avenue S. in south Minneapolis and started her new business.
At first, she had a hard time getting customers to take her seriously. But as soon as her first customer posted Rhu’s story on Facebook she’s had more customers and people wanting to help.
“I just thought it was cool that she’s out here doing this and that someone wanted to bring attention to the fact that we don’t really take the time to stop and make people’s small dreams come true,” customer, Sarah Parker, said.
This young entrepreneur has found a way to make the most of her time at such an early age. Watch the video below to learn more about Rhu’s story.
Customers can schedule appointments through her salon’s Facebook page.
