Whether you’re a bona fide Parrothead or just a wannabe beach bum you’re surely familiar with the music of Jimmy Buffet. Together with his Coral Reefer Band, Buffet has been making tropical-themed party music since the late 1960s. Buffet’s best-known tune is probably the nursing-a-broken-heart in-paradise anthem, “Margaritaville.”
Over the years, Buffett has spun this song into a whole network of branded beach resorts and lifestyle products. Now, thanks to a new Florida development, it will soon be possible to retire to Margaritaville.
Latitude Margaritaville, currently under construction in Daytona Beach, Florida, will be a mixed-use senior development. The almost $1 billion complex is marketed towards the 55-plus crowd who crave tropical vibes and something a bit off the beaten path from your average Florida retirement community.

Boasting over 6,900 homes and 200,000-square-feet of retail space, Latitude Margaritaville guarantees an immersive experience with plenty of amenities. Residents will enjoy a walkable town square, an outdoor music venue, a resort-style pool, shuttles to and from the beach, and, of course, signature Margaritaville food and (adult) beverages.
A sales center for Latitude Margaritaville is scheduled to open this fall. And what better time? Over the next two decades, the demand for senior housing will reshape America’s housing market. By 2035, the number of Americans over 80 is expected to reach 12 million. Now is the prime time for an expansion of housing options for our older population.

The new retirement community at Latitude Margaritaville promises to channel Buffet’s authentic, no worries approach to life. The tropical vibe spiked with tequila – well, that’s just an added bonus. Besides, what better way to celebrate growing older without growing up?
